Sometimes that's just how life is. Madeline could be read as anorexic here, but that's not it. She's just apathetic and/or depressed. While writing I was again very conscious of some dialogue not having the speaker made explicit. And also about having Madeline's thoughts not be distinct from narration. I think it works and it's giving me confidence in that style of writing. The vibes of this story are similar to Hello Spring and The Talent Show, but I think this story still adds something new.
